In 1970 Milton Friedman published the sentence that reorganised the working life of most people alive today: that the social responsibility of business is to increase its profits. Not a description — a programme. Within a decade it had a Nobel, a president, a central bank, and a generation of managers taught that every other obligation a firm might have was a form of theft.
What followed was not a natural disaster. Deregulation was drafted. Privatisation was scheduled. The shift of risk from the balance sheet onto the household was a choice, made by people with names, in rooms, on dates. A thing that was chosen can be chosen against.
Twenty-four pieces. Printed properly, on garments worth keeping, for people who would rather say it than explain it.
